Advanced resource ratios
Resource quotas are configured within each product under the product settings > Availability > Resources.
Disable the setting “Allow all resources in the selected resource categories to be booked.”
Enable “Advanced resource ratios”. Then select the resources you want the product to book by checking them under “Allowed resources.”
Enter the desired ratio for the product in relation to the resource.
Here are a few examples of when this setting can be useful:
Example 1: Products that should book different numbers of resources
Example 1: Products that should book different numbers of resources
A ferry company can take cars, motorhomes, and trucks on board. A car takes 1 spot, a motorhome takes 2 spots, and a truck takes 3 spots. With resource ratios, you can have one resource — the ferry — with a capacity of 100 spots, and three products that each take a different number of spots from the resource’s capacity when booked (1 car = 1 spot/ratio, 1 motorhome = 2 spots/ratios, 1 truck = 3 spots/ratios).
Examples 2 & 3: Open and Private products
Examples 2 & 3: Open and Private products
A provider has 4 saunas with 8 spots each. They want to rent them out both privately and as open sauna sessions. The “Private Sauna” product takes all 8 spots from each resource (1 product booked = resource quota 8), while the “Open Sauna” product takes 1 spot from each resource (1 product booked = resource quota 1).
A paintball operator has 4 arenas where you can play paintball, run archery tag, or host children’s parties. They offer both open paintball sessions, where you can book and join others (each booked product reserves 1 spot), and private paintball sessions (for example, for a children’s party) that reserve the entire arena (one booked product reserves all spots on the arena).
This setup can also be used for, for example guided tours and other activities.
Make a resource on a product private.
Do you have a product that should be private? If a booking should reserve the entire resource, you can use the setting “Exclusive use”.
This is especially useful when the same resource is used for both public and private products. Even if the resource is generally configured to be shared across multiple bookings, this setting allows you to make it private for a specific product.
When “Exclusive use” is enabled for the product, it overrides the resource’s default setting and makes the resource exclusive to bookings for that specific product.
