Learn how to share capacity between products using the Alias Feature

This setting is useful if one product utilise another product's capacity; for example, a kayaking course that uses single kayaks, which are also bookable on your site.

If the kayaking course is booked, the single kayaks must be blocked to prevent double booking.

An alias product is a product that uses another product's capacity, like a kayaking course that uses the capacity of single kayaks.

A linked product is a product that the alias product is linked to, like the single kayaks that share their capacity with the kayaking course.

Open the product that will be the alias product via Products > Products & Experiences > [selected product]. Go to the Availability tab and scroll down to Alias.

  1. Enable Make this an alias product.

  2. Select the linked product (in this case, the kayak linked with the beginner course)

  3. Choose whether to ignore the linked product's opening hours or not.

Example

A SUP rental opens to the public at 10:00 AM, but at 09:00 AM, a 90-minute SUP yoga session (alias product) is held, using SUPs (linked product) that are available when the rental opens.

For the SUP yoga session to be bookable starting at 09:00 AM, "Ignore linked product's opening hours" must be enabled.

Remember to click "Save" in the upper right corner!

Products that share capacity affect each other's availability. If your linked product is fully booked, the alias product will not be bookable.

With alias products, you avoid unnecessarily setting aside products and can better optimise the use of your products. πŸ™Œ
