Create an agent widget

By creating an agent widget, resellers can offer direct bookings through their own website while ensuring that every booking is linked to the correct agent. This article explains how agents and administrators can create and install an agent widget.

Create a Widget as an Agent

Go to Widgets in the left-hand menu and click Create new widget.

Give the widget a clear and descriptive name. This makes it easier to keep track of your widgets if you create multiple ones. The name is only used internally in BookSpot. Agent widgets are automatically marked with a blue label displaying the agent's name.

Select widget type

The widget type determines how the customer first enters the booking process. The actual booking flow always opens in a dialogue window. There are four widget types, each with different layouts and configuration options. Click below to read more about each one.

Floating button

A button that follows the visitor as they scroll on the website.

You can customise:

  • The button text

  • The button size and colour

  • The placement: left, centre, or right

Embedded product calendar

Displays the calendar for a selected product directly on your website.

You can adjust the following settings:

  • Choose which product the calendar displays

  • Hide the product image

  • Hide the product description

Embedded widget

A full booking widget that is displayed directly on your website.

Choose which view to show:

  • Calendar

  • Product view

Link/custom widget opener

Widget as link allows you to open the booking widget directly via a link or by connecting it to any element on your website — for example an image, a button, or a text link. You can choose whether the widget should:

  • Open a specific product automatically or open in its full view

  • The additional settings under “Content” control what is displayed within the widget.

This widget type is particularly useful when you want to send a direct link to customers or resellers, allowing them to access the booking flow quickly and easily.

Content

To determine what the user will see when the widget is opened, adjust the settings under step 2 – Content.

  • Choose whether the first view should display a list of products or a calendar.

  • Choose whether the widget should include both products and vouchers, products only, or vouchers only.

  • Choose whether the button should lead to booking all products or individual products by enabling/disabling "Show all products". If you disable this option, you must select which products should be visible from the dropdown list.

  • Choose whether the button should include all product categories and vouchers or not. If you disable these options, you must select which categories should be visible from the dropdown list.

  • Choose whether the widget should use automatic language detection or not by enabling/disabling "Automatic language detection". For this to work, the website's code must contain the HTML tag "lang". This means that if the website's language is set to English (lang="en"), the widget's language will also be set to English.

  • If you want to track where a booking originates from, you can add a tracking tag to the widget. This will allow you to see in the bookings and when exporting the manifest which widget a specific booking was created through.

Install the widget

For the widget to work, two steps need to be completed:

1. Install the base script

Under Installation, click "Copy" to copy the script that is displayed. Then place the script globally on your website, for example in the <head> section or directly before the </body> tag.

2. Paste the specific widget code

Once you have created and saved your widget, a unique code will be generated. You can find it within the widget settings. Copy the code and paste it in the location on your website where you want the widget to appear.

Once the widget is installed, customers can make bookings directly on your website, 24/7 🙌

Settlement for agent widget bookings

All bookings made through an agent widget will have an Agent Settlement where you can see the share allocated to the facility and the agent respectively. You can find it under Payments in the booking details.

All sales are compiled under Sales > Agent Sales. Read more about this here.

Create an agent widget as an administrator

When creating a widget for your agent, you follow the same steps as above. The only difference is that you need to assign an agent when creating the widget. You do this in the widget settings.
