In BookSpot, you can determine how much of the product's price needs to be paid for the booking to be created, known as prepayment.
This can be useful if, for example, you offer more expensive experiences or if customers often book well in advance and hesitate to pay the full amount at the time of booking.
Examples:
If customers are required to pay the full product price at the time of booking (which we generally recommend), set the prepayment to 100%.
If customers do not need to pay anything when they create the booking (skip the payment step entirely), set the prepayment to 0%.
How to enable advance payment
By default, the prepayment for products is set to 100%.
If you want customers to pay only a portion of the product's price when booking, for example, 20%, enable prepayment by going to Product settings > Prices > Advance Payment.
There you can also specify when the full payment should be completed under "Full payment within."
You can also enable an automatic payment link to be sent to the customer for the remaining amount (80% of the product's price) when the time for "full payment" is due, for example, 7 days before the booking starts.
The amounts in the automatic payment links are based on the original booking. If changes are made to the booking, you need to go into the "message history" of the booking, cancel the upcoming payment link, and then manually send a new payment link once the changes to the booking are complete, so that the amount matches the updated booking.
If the automatic payment link is not paid, the booking will remain but will be marked as unpaid or partially paid. It is up to you as the operator to ensure that the bookings are paid on time.
