Learn how to connect to Viator!

Viator is a marketplace for tour guides, activities, excursions, and much more. By connecting Viator to your products in BookSpot, the availability of your products will automatically synchronize with Viator, thereby avoiding double bookings.

When a booking is made via Viator, it will be registered in BookSpot just like any other booking. Sounds convenient, doesn't it?

Preparations

Before you start with the integration, you need to:

  • Create an account with Viator. You can do that here.

  • Create the products in BookSpot that will be connected to Viator.

  • Create the products in Viator that will be connected to BookSpot. Remember that OTAs like Viator cannot use add-on products, packages, or more than one booking duration per product.

How to connect your products to Viator

Step 1: In BookSpot, go to Settings > Integrations > Viator.

Step 2: Connect price categories to Viator's customer types.

Customer types are Viator's equivalent to BookSpot's price categories. You first need to match the customer types in Viator with those in BookSpot's price categories to ensure the prices correspond. For example, if you have a price for adults and a price for children, connect the adult price to ADULT and the child price to CHILD. If you only have one price, connect all price categories to ADULT. Step 3: Retrieve API keys from Viator

Step 3a: Log in to your Viator supplier account. Then click on your account and go to Account > Connectivity. Click "Connect now".

Step 3b: Select BookSpot from the list and click "Save".

Step 3c: You will then see the API keys, API supplier ID in Viator, which you copy.

Step 3d: Enter the API keys and API supplier ID under the Viator integration in BookSpot. You also need to fill in your facility's country and destination.

Step 4: Connect the products in Viator to BookSpot

To sync a product in Viator to the product in BookSpot, go to the product's settings in Viator > Product connection > Connect. There, connect the product in Viator to the respective product in BookSpot.

Repeat this step for all your products in Viator.

Step 5: Activate Viator in BookSpot

Finally, you need to activate the connection so that Viator can fetch information about your products. You do this by clicking the "Activate" switch. Your settings should then be saved, and the connection created.

Important to consider:

  • Only products with the Number of seats/places per product set to 1 can be connected.

  • Booking durations of the type "Days until closing" cannot be connected.

  • Only main products can be connected (i.e., no add-on products or packages can be connected to Viator).

Done! You have now connected to Viator βœ…

If you change the structure of your products

When you change certain settings, these changes can cause issues with the linking between the products. If you want to change, remove, or add any of the following:

  • Price categories

  • Start times

  • Booking durations

...in a product linked to Viator, you should also make these changes in Viator to ensure the connection continues to work correctly.

Increase your reach by connecting to Viator! πŸ™Œ
