Connect your products to smart locks for a seamless experience for unmanned operations.

Through the integration with Igloo, you can automatically send one-time codes to your customers that are valid for the duration of the customer’s booking for your smart locks.

To get started with the integration, you first need to order the Igloo locks. We recommend contacting our representative Erik at SmartLocks ([email protected]) to order your locks.

Activate the Igloo Integration

Once your locks have been delivered, you can activate the integration with Igloo Home. Below, you can read how to proceed.

  1. In BookSpot, go to Settings > Integrations > Igloo Home.

  2. Accept the terms and click "Activate".

Then you’re ready to start using Igloo!

How to connect an Igloo lock to a BookSpot product

  1. Download the IglooHome app on your smartphone from the App Store or Google Play.

  2. Open and log in to the IglooHome application.

  3. Ensure that you have synced/added your lock in IglooHome that you want to connect to a BookSpot product.

  4. Under the "Devices" tab, your added lock will now appear in the list.

  5. Click "Connect Product" and follow the flow.

Done! Your product is now connected to the lock.

If you click on your lock (under Integrations > Igloo > Devices > Manage Locks) after it is connected to a BookSpot product, you will see detailed information about the lock and its issued codes. From here, you can also create manual codes and view your main code.

Connect an Igloo lock to a product identifier

If you want to connect an Igloo lock to each unit (e.g., if you have a lock per kayak), you can activate identifiers for the kayaks (read more here) and then connect the locks to the identifier instead of to the product itself.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Ensure that identifiers are active for the product you want to connect the lock to.

  2. Under Settings > Integrations > Igloo, click "Manage Locks" for the lock you want to connect to an identifier.

  3. Click "Change Product Connection" and check "Yes, I want to connect the lock to a specific identifier instead".

  4. Select the identifier you want to connect the lock to and save.

Code Dispatch

You can control and preview the automatic message sent to the customer. This can be found in BookSpot by going to Settings > Automated Messages > Smart Locks.

There, you can adjust if you want a copy of each dispatch, when the code should be sent to the customer (Trigger immediately or x hours before booking), and change the default text of the dispatch.

Create Manual Codes

You can create manual codes for locks that are connected to a product. Create a new code by going to Integrations > Igloo > Devices > Manage Locks > Create New PIN Code.

The purpose of this is to unlock a lock without making a booking. Note that there are various types of codes; create a code that best suits the purpose for which it will be used.

Remove Codes

Unfortunately, you cannot remove created or generated PIN codes directly from BookSpot as IglooHome does not support this.

To remove codes, you need to go to the IglooHome app and see if they offer this option there. Removed codes from the IglooHome app will not delete the codes from our end for security reasons. That is, we keep a history of the codes for which BookSpot is the responsible issuer. Older issued codes may be automatically cleaned up under certain management from us at BookSpot.

To check if a code is valid, please verify the validity period of the issued code.

Good to Know

Here are a few things that are good to know about how the Igloo integration works.

When a customer books a product connected to a lock, a code is sent to the customer. Depending on the start and end time of the booking, the validity of the code is adjusted to the nearest hour. You can adjust this margin under the Settings tab. Currently, Igloo only allows a number of hours for the margin.

Example: If a product is booked from 15:20 to 17:20, the booking’s code will automatically be adjusted to 15:00 to 18:00. This is based on Igloo's requirements for how codes are to be created. This is something the customer will not be informed about but will see their start and end times for the product.
